November 2006 marks thirty-five years since Refuge set up the world's first refuge for women and children escaping domestic violence in Chiswick in 1971.
Since then Refuge has grown to become the leading voice in the campaign to end domestic violence and the country’s largest provider of emergency accommodation and practical and emotional support, working with 900 women and children every day.
Refuge's 35th birthday is a huge milestone and they are celebrating the thousands of women and children that Refuge has supported in this time, and all the women and children that they will support in the future.
